Retos en la Búsqueda de Servicios de Ayuda en Personas LGBT+ Sobrevivientes de Violencia Sexual

La violencia sexual es un problema de salud pública que afecta el bienestar de las personas. Las personas LGBT+ tienen mayor probabilidad de experimentar violencia sexual que otras. El propósito de este estudio fue explorar los retos en la búsqueda de servicios de ayuda entre personas LGBT+ sobrevivientes de violencia sexual en Puerto Rico. Este estudio cualitativo de tipo fenomenológico triangular se basó en el Modelo Ecológico Culturalmente Inclusivo para la Recuperación de una Agresión Sexual y la Teoría de Estrés de Minorías. Se realizaron entrevistas semiestructuradas a personas LGBT+ sobrevivientes (n=1), profesionales de ayuda (n=2), y líderes de la comunidad (n=2), entre febrero 2022 y junio 2023. Se llevó a cabo una triangulación de datos entre estas entrevistas. Los hallazgos reflejaron que la violencia sexual ha sido normalizada y se evidenciaron deficiencias en los sistemas de ayuda. Las personas participantes enfatizaron la importancia de la educación sexual y la concienciación comunitaria, el acceso a servicios, la representación de la población LGBT+ en las campañas mediáticas y los adiestramientos sobre el trabajo con sobrevivientes LGBT+. Las personas participantes no sienten satisfacción con el sistema de ayuda. Es importante accionar e investigar para desarrollar herramientas que mejoren el sistema de ayuda.
