Factores Protectores en Presencia de Sintomatología Depresiva en la Adultez Emergente Puertorriqueña LGBTIQA+

Investigaciones muestran que las personas LGBTIQA+ presentan mayores niveles de depresión e ideación suicida que las personas heterosexuales y cisgénero. El Modelo de Estrés de las Minorías de Meyer explica esta mayor vulnerabilidad a partir del impacto del estigma, los prejuicios y la discriminación en la salud mental. La adultez emergente, etapa crucial del desarrollo, representa un periodo de especial vulnerabilidad, por lo que es esencial contar con factores protectores frente a la depresión. Este estudio buscó determinar si la inteligencia emocional, el apoyo social y la autoestima se asocian inversamente con los síntomas depresivos en personas adultas emergentes LGBTIQA+ en Puerto Rico. Se utilizó un diseño transversal y correlacional, con datos recopilados mediante un cuestionario en línea aplicado a una muestra no probabilística por conveniencia de 108 personas entre 18 y 25 años. Los análisis de correlación de Pearson mostraron relaciones inversas significativas entre síntomas depresivos y las tres variables protectoras. El análisis de regresión lineal múltiple reveló un modelo significativo que destaca su capacidad predictiva sobre los síntomas depresivos. Estos hallazgos ofrecen evidencia preliminar de la relevancia de la inteligencia emocional, el apoyo social y la autoestima como factores protectores, esenciales para diseñar intervenciones clínicas y orientar la investigación en adultos emergentes LGBTIQA+.
