This quantitative, descriptive, and correlational study examined the relationship between nomophobia and psychological well-being in a sample of Puerto Rican adults. Nomophobia is characterized by an intense and irrational fear of losing access to a mobile phone, generating discomfort including anxiety and anguish. Given its potential impact on mental health, its association with anxiety and depression was examined in the sample. The sample included 154 Puerto Rican adults, of which 117 were women and 37 were men. Pearson's correlation analyses indicated a negative relationship between nomophobia and psychological well-being, suggesting that lower levels of nomophobia are associated with greater well-being. In addition, psychological well-being showed negative correlations with anxiety and depression. In contrast, nomophobia showed positive correlations with anxiety and depression. These findings suggest that nomophobia could increase the risk of adverse emotional symptoms, highlighting its relevance in mental health. This article addresses the implications, limitations, and prospects for future research.
