Abstract

In such complex times, multiple responsibilities are the order of the day, putting rest time and personal time at stake. The objective of this investigation is to perform a psychometric analysis of the Work-Family Interaction Scale (SWING) by Geurts et al. (2005) based on the adaptation made by Moreno Jiménez et al. (2009). A total of 886 workers were selected by the availability of 21 years or older and from different organizations in Puerto Rico. The results showed that the instrument is composed of four work-family interaction factors (negative work-family interaction, negative family-work interaction, positive work-family interaction, and positive family-work interaction). SWING indexes have adequate discrimination capabilities. The four dimensions of the instrument are consistent in measuring the dimensions of the work-family interaction construct. We conclude that the Spanish version of the SWING Scale has appropriate psychometric properties for organizational research and diagnostics in Puerto Rico.
