The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between internal factors of resilience and depression symptoms in a non-clinical sample of Puerto Rican adults, and if significant differences exist in both variables when comparing by sex and age of participants. Income and presence of pain’s relationship to depression and resilience was also evaluated. A weak positive relationship was found between pain condition and depressive symptoms; a weak negative relationship was found between income and resilience; and a moderate negative relationship existed between resilience and depressive symptoms. No other significant analysis was found. Resilience as a multidimensional construct comprised of internal attributes proved to be a potential protective factor for depression symptoms for the present sample.
