Abstract

This study assessed the psychometric performance of the Florida Obsessive-Compulsive Inventory – Part B (FOCI-B) among Puerto Rican adults using a secondary data analysis. Self-report responses were collected online, and depression and anxiety measures were included to evaluate convergent validity. Internal structure was examined via a one-factor confirmatory factor analysis with robust estimation. Items behaved consistently with the intended obsessive–compulsive severity construct, and a theory-based residual covariance between avoidance and interference improved fit while preserving unidimensionality. Internal consistency was high, and positive associations with depressive and anxiety symptoms supported the expected convergent validity. Overall, the FOCI-B appears to be a brief and precise tool suitable for screening and symptom monitoring in research and clinical contexts. Future work should investigate measurement invariance across subgroups, temporal stability, and criterion validity against diagnostic interviews to further consolidate its applied usefulness in diverse Puerto Rican adult populations.
